Joseph Marley, grandson to legend Bob Marley has died suddenly. He is the son of eight-time Grammy Award winner Stephen Marley.
Cause of death
On Tuesday, December 27th Joseph Marley was found unresponsive in his vehicle. The musician reportedly died from an unexpected asthma attack.
Since the new broke out, his untimely death has rocked many fans and peers alike. Olivia Grange, minister of culture took to social media to express her shock to his passing.
She wrote, “I am deeply saddened by the news that artiste Joseph Marley, son of Reggae star, Stephen Marley and grandson of Reggae superstar, Bob Marley has died.
Joseph Marley was born into a family filled with talented musicians. But, the multi-instrumentalist strived in paving his own path in reggae music. While his family is pretty popular, Jo recognized that the weight of their name is immense.
He previously shared that Bob Marley had a great impact on Reggae. However, he noted that it’s time to “add [his] works” to the legacy.
Joseph Marley in a new generation of Reggae
In a previous interview, Joseph Marley noted that he is “one of the Marleys” but is still experimenting with his own sound in the music world.
He said, “I am one of the new generation of Marleys, but I am still experimenting at the same time. My plan is to do something new with my roots.”
Thus far, Joseph Marley was born on the 12th of March in 1991. The artist’s place of birth is Kingston, Jamaica. Jo first came to prominence in 2016 with his single titled Burn It Down with his brother Yohan.
In 2020, Joseph released a track titled Nothing’s Gonna Harm You. It was dedicated to his daughter. He added that the track was a reminder to his daughter that he will always protect her. As it is his responsibility as a father.
The singer released his first EP titled Comfortable in 2014. Later, he released his debut album titled Eternal in 2021. Apart from his many other relatives, Jo is survived by his wife and daughter.
