- The Kia Sportage GT-Line S to lead by example as it escorts elite athletes along the route
Kia is proud to announce its partnership as the Official Vehicle Sponsor for the Two Oceans Marathon. Kia is lending its expertise in movement to the Race with a fleet of vehicles to provide reliable, stylish and technology-forward transport to key suppliers and office staff as preparations for Africa’s biggest running event kick into high gear.
“Kia is more than just a car brand; we are a ‘movement that inspires’, meaning that we are continuously moving to evoke change and inspire people to do more,” comments Gary Scott, CEO, Kia South Africa. “This is why it’s so fitting that Kia is the Official Vehicle Sponsor for the 2023 Two Oceans Marathon, an ultra-marathon for people that are continuously on the move and aspiring to grow mentally and physically. These athletes live through experiences that push them to continuously discover their abilities through what many consider as ‘the world’s most beautiful marathon.”
The Totalsports Two Oceans Marathon 2023 will see a number of Kia vehicles provide support over the course of the Race weekend. The practical and efficient Kia Pegas will provide Race staff and organisers the space and efficiency to move quickly and reliably along the route and its various operational bases, while the tough and versatile Kia K2700 Workshorse, with a 1,3-ton payload – will be doing all the heavy lifting. Kia’s flagship Sportage GT-Line S – a finalist in the 2023 South African Car of the Year competition – will be this year’s lead vehicle, guiding the elite athletes to the all-important finish line.
“The Kia Sportage will be stationed at the start, and depart one minute before the race begins, signalling to our elites that their race is about to get underway. With Kia at the helm, we know that they are in the safest of hands. Our vision with Kia is to provide these elite athletes with a sense of comfort and occasion at the start, and to help harness their athletic prowess on the day,” says Race Manager Hilton Kearns.
William Swartbooi, TOM NPC Chairperson says: “As a globally iconic race, we are pleased to be aligning with leading car brand, Kia. Their brand ethos, ‘Movement That Inspires’, is both a brilliant mindset and vehicle fit for the Two Oceans Marathon. We look forward to an excellent long-term partnership that delivers mutual value, and warmly welcome them to our sponsorship fold”.
