- After a victory in Hyderabad (India) and a well-deserved second place in Cape Town (South Africa), DS Automobiles is aiming for another podium
- Jean-Eric Vergne currently sits third in the drivers’ championship
For the first time in its history, the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will visit Brazil, on Saturday 25 March. The sixth round of Season 9 will be an eagerly-awaited fixture for the 11 teams competing in the 100% electric single-seater championship.
Consisting of long straights and tight turns, the brand-new 2.95-kilometre Sao Paulo circuit should be action-packed, with one of the 22 drivers expected to set the speed record for the year so far.
After Jean-Eric Vergne’s great victory in Hyderabad (India) followed by the Frenchman’s second place in Cape Town (South Africa), DS Automobiles and its partner PENSKE AUTOSPORT approach this new race with the clear objective of expanding their collection of trophies and making up ground in the overall classification.
To achieve this ambitious goal, both DS E-TENSE FE23 drivers need to be in a position to score points. Reigning world champion Stoffel Vandoorne has unfortunately not yet had the opportunity to capitalise on his extremely promising performances, and the Belgian driver will be more motivated than ever to demonstrate his ample talent in Sao Paulo.
With two highly efficient cars and a line-up of exceptional drivers, the DS PENSKE team will have all the aces up its sleeve to be at the forefront of the leading battle at this first race in Brazil.
The Sao Paulo E-Prix will also mark the 95th race for DS Automobiles. The French premium brand from the Stellantis group is still the most decorated manufacturer in Formula E, thanks to its array of wins and titles.
Eugenio Franzetti, DS Performance director:
“Another new continent and another new track for all the Formula E world championship teams! This fascinating line-up of street circuits across all four corners of the world is what makes the competition so attractive. For this race coming up in Sao Paulo, we had a bit more time to prepare. Following an excellent month of February, highlighted by a victory and a very strong second place, our ambitions are high. We want to close the gap in the manufacturers’ classification, and for that we need to bring our two DS E-TENSE FE23 cars home among the top places at the chequered flag. But that is exactly why we are here. We will do our very best to achieve our goal, thanks to the immense talent of our mechanics, engineers, and our two great drivers.”
