Pick n Pay in Promenade Mall recently needed to clean an entire fridge of cold meats.
In a TikTok video posted on Monday, a shopper at Pick n Pay captured the moment two mice started feasting on cold meats being sold at the retailer.
The shopper, named Imdaad Harris told Netwerk24 that he saw two mice in the fridge at the grocery store. While one ran away, the other mice remained behind and continued to eat the meat.
He said, “I saw two mice. One ran away, while the other was stubborn and started eating the cold meats nonchalantly.”
About the incident, Imdaad relayed that he immediately informed staff about the mice in the fridge. Following the alert, the staff immediately removed the cold meats from the fridge.
“I was still in the store for another while as I had other items such as stationery to buy. When I returned to the cold meat section, all the meat and products had been removed from the fridge.”
The post has since garnered over 10 thousand likes and over 400 000 views. See the video below.

Pick n Pay makes a statement
The South African reports that Pick n Pay has since responded to the viral video and noted that all the meats were immediately removed from the fridge.
“A deep clean was done as we follow strict health and safety rules, which include regular pest control.”
Now, this isn’t the first time shoppers have spotted mice at the retailer at Promenade Mall. Some TikTok users took to the comment section to share their views on the matter.
@Yola said, “It’s definitely pick n pay promenade. Another reason why I don’t like going there.”
While Gary Jones141 said, “pnp promenade always have mice problems. U see them running around any time of day.”
While this may come as a little setback for the grocery store, Pick n Pay has recently expanded its payment options. The retailer revealed that they will now be accepting cryptocurrency as a form of payment.
This option reportedly comes as one of the most cost-effective and cheaper ways of paying for goods. Locate your nearest store for more information.
