The release of the matric results is right around the corner and understandably, many are feeling anxious about their results. However, the wait will be over soon!
When will the results be released?
Earlier this week, the Department of Education announced that Minister of Education, Angie Motshekga will announce the matric results on Thursday, 19th of January.
The matric results will comprise of the different percentages in the different provinces and therefore the top schools. Matriculants of 2022 will also get to see which province was the top-performing region and get a little insight into the pass rate of 2022.
On the 18th, IEB students’ results were made available, and the pass rate is currently at 98 percent pass rate. By the 19th, the Western Cape will know the overall pass rate of the class of 2022.

For the official results, matriculants will need to visit their schools in order to pick up a physical copy of their results. However, there are other sources from which the matric results can be accessed.
Where to find your matric results
Matriculants will be able to access their results through a variety of newspaper publications on the 20th of January. To locate your results in a newspaper, you will need to have your exam number on hand. From there, you will be able to locate your results.
The National Senior Certificate results can also be found on the Department of Education website. Results will become available at 6 am on the website. To receive your results, you will need your ID number. It’s important to note that some candidates’ results may not appear on the website as a result of technical difficulties.
On the other hand, you will need to physically pick up your results at the school or district in which you wrote. Results will become available from 11 am onwards.
Alternatively, you can download the MatricMate from your Google Play Store or Apple Play Store. To get your results you will need to fill in your ID number as well as your exam number.
What if I didn’t make it?
While it can be hard to know that you didn’t pass your matric year, it’s ultimately not the end of your career. This comes as there are many options when it comes to getting your matric again.
If you didn’t pass, registrations for re-writes will be open until the 18th of February. Alternatively, you can opt to remark your scripts for a small fee.
