It’s been a while since Miley Cyrus released new music. However, the singer is finally back and potentially dishing out on a previous romance.
Before its release, Miley Cyrus teased the track alongside her album. The album titled Endless Summer Vacation is slated for release on March 10.
Miley Cyrus seems to reference an old romance
In the meantime, the singer has shared a taste of what it is to come in the month to come. However, fans are thinking that there is more to the song than others had initially thought.
Right now, the track Flowers seems to be a juxtaposition of the 2013 track by Bruno Mars titled, When I Was Your Man.
Part of the track says, “I can buy myself flowers/Write my name in the sand/Talk to myself for hours/Say things you don’t understand/I can take myself dancing/And I can hold my own hand.”
The song, When I Was Your Man says, “I should’ve bought you flowers/And held your hand/Give you all my hours/Take you to every party because all you wanted to do is dance.”

Thus far, the most recent ex of Miley Cyrus is actor Liam Hemsworth. The former couple dated on and off since 2013 and eventually eloped in 2018. However, their relationship took a turn again which ultimately led to the couple separating. Their divorce was finalized in 2019.
One key thing fans have noticed is the fact that Miley Cyrus released Flowers on what has been Liam Hemsworth’s birthday. The 13th of January has therefore been looked at as a key to who the song is about.
While artists are creative in nature, fans have also noted that Miley Cyrus also wore an oversized suit in her video. This seems to reference a suit Liam Hemsworth wore to the premiere of Avengers: Endgame.
Fans now think that this is in reference to their viral red carpet moment in which Miley Cyrus appears to lick Hemsworth’s face. At the time, the actor responded with, “Can you behave for once”. In her video, Cyrus seems to lose herself in rigorous dancing while wearing the suit. If this is a reference to him, the singer would be opposed to “behaving” as once probed by him.
Her video, posted on Friday the 13th has raked up 39 million views and has simultaneously reached number 1 on iTunes. It is now available to stream on all digital platforms.
