Prince Harry is celebrating a great milestone after his book achieved great success on its first day of sale.
The buzz around the memoir comes just months after the late Queen Elizabeth’s death. Following her declining health, the prince decided to postpone the publication of his memoir until 2023.
Prince Harry sells over a million copies of Spare
It seems that the wait was worthwhile, as Prince Harry has made history within a day of releasing his memoir. CNN reports that the prince has sold a total of 1.4 million copies of his memoir Spare.
The memoir is currently published in 16 languages worldwide. Penguin Random House initially printed an amount of 2 million copies. However, the publication is now having to print additional copies to meet the demands of buyers.
Taking to social media, Penguin Random House shared just what had taken place on the first day of its sale.
“The first full day of sales of Spare represents the largest first-day sales total for any nonfiction book ever published by Penguin Random House, the world’s largest trade publisher,”
About the royal’s memoir
Right now, Prince Harry has exceeded the book sales from that of former President Barack Obama. The 2020 memoir titled A Promised Land sold a total of 887 000 books on the first day in the US and in Canada.
The total sales include all formats of the book such as book, paper, electronic, and audio in the US, Canada, and the UK according to a statement released by the publication.
Even though early copies have been made available in some regions, this didn’t impact the book sales at all. This comes as everyone would like to hear the story of Prince Harry from the prince himself.
The memoir currently delves into the early life of Prince Harry, his past romantic relationships, his strained relationships with the royals, the grief of losing his mother as well as using drugs and indulging in sex with an older woman.
