SABC is going digital with its new streaming app SABC Plus.
With many streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, HBO, and Amazon Prime, SABC is now joining the group chat through the creation of its own streaming platform.
SABC Plus to include 19 radio stations and other channels
Right now, the SABC shares that the app will feature three free channels such as SABC 1, 2, and 3. The streaming platform will also include a 24-hour news channel and a sports channel.
Thus far, the app comes as streaming platforms continue to be on the rise. The platform’s recent decision acknowledges the newfound challenges when it comes to viewing content online as well as the easily accessible way technology has allowed us to do this.
In a statement, SABC shared that they’ve created this platform for its users so that they may have access to a variety of programs which is accessible by the touch of a button.
“This is a great milestone for the SABC and it’s also very great for our audiences. It’s a very interactive platform and they can use it in a manner that can be able to view all our content whether you are talking radio, television, drama, and all the great content that we have.”
More on the streaming app
Presently, the new app by SABC serves as a great step for the broadcaster who has focussed on sharing local content to its audience for many years. However, their aim is to showcase international content at the same time.
The broadcaster currently follows in the steps of Dstv who has previously launched a streaming app for its customers for a more convenient way of viewing content as well as making efficient payments and clearing error codes.
Right now, it is unclear whether watching the content on SABC Plus includes advertisements that will halt streaming for a few minutes. The app is currently available for download on Google Playstore.
