Two bodies were found murdered in a bullet-riddled Toyota Fortuner on Sunday 28 August.
The two people were reportedly killed in a drive-b shooting in Dawncrest, Verulam, according to the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).
Residents called RUSA numerous times to report hearing high-calibre gunfire in Oaklands Drive close to Dawncrest. “Available reaction officers were dispatched to investigate at approximately 16:34,” said RUSA.
Officers on the scene discovered a white Toyota Fortuner that had hit a border fence as was shot at. According to RUSA two men with multiple gunshot wounds were found inside the car.
Soon after the paramedics arrived on the scene, they found that both guys suffered fatal injuries. At the scene, several rifle and 9mm cartridges were found.
“The suspects are believed to have been driving a white/gold Toyota Fortuner. Two houses were also struck by stray bullets,” the company reported.
The motive for the deadly drive-by shooting is still unknown.
Meanwhile, RUSA also followed up on robbers who fired blanks as they made their getaway.
The company claims that on Friday, criminals shot blank rounds as they ran from the scene of a crime in on Marshall Drive in Mt Edgecombe, KZN.
“After hearing reports of gunfire, members of reaction Unite South Africa (RUSA) arrived on the site about 14:39. It was determined that three unidentified men broke into a business, held up the employees, and stole cellphones and an undisclosed sum of money. As they left the building, they fired shots. It is thought that spent cartridges found on the site were for blanks. The company stated that the victims were unharmed.”
