A mother’s worst nightmare almost came to life as her child was almost snatched at SuperSpar in Alberton while she was shopping
Danielle Wolff, a mother of two from Alberton had one of the most horrific experiences of her life as she took her eight-month-old daughter to the local store with her.
While Danielle struggled to reach down to the chilled meat in the fridge, she took her little girl who was in a white romp suit and placed her safely in the chlid seat of the trolley.
As Danielle opened the fridge and tried to reach down to the meat to select the one she found enticing for supper, a shop employee walked over and snatched the baby from the trolley without her feeling anything.
The butcher assistant who works at the SuperSpar in Alberton, lifted the baby out of the trolley while the mother was looking for meat in the fridge. The employee then began to slowly walk away with the baby.
In a miraculous moment, Danielle turned around just on time and realised that the baby was not in the trolley anymore. While she shouts and turns around, she spotted the employee who was walking away with her child.
Danielle rushed to get her child from the employee and shouted loudly: “Where were you taking her? What were you going to do with her?
The shocked mother managed to get hold of the CCTV footage and shared the story of what happened on social media.
She said: “I have her in my arms and when I get to the meat section, I place her in the trolley to free my hands and when I find what I’m looking for I bend down. Within an instant, a stranger is seen in the video taking my daughter. I look up and she’s gone. I immediately look for her and find her in the arms of this man.
“I’m able to grab her from him and say what he is doing with my daughter? Why does he have her? He is smiling and laughing, and I say it isn’t a joke and its not amusing.
A spokesman for SuperSpar said: “We have provided the CCTV footage to the police and management are fully co-operating with the authorities in their investigation.
