The granddaughter of Nelson Mandela shares her cancer battle
Ever since the mother of six overcame her battle with cancer, Zoleka Mandela has since discovered that her battle with the illness is not over. The granddaughter of Mandela revealed that the cancer is unfortunately not curable.
In an account of her recent experiences of back pain, Zoleka Mandela expressed that she experienced excruciating pain and eventually went to see her doctor after the pain had become unbearable.
The mother who recently welcomed her sixth child revealed her x-ray and shared that she had a pathological fracture and swelling that was caused by cancer.
Following this, Zoleka Mandela expressed that her oncologist did a CT scan on her body to evaluate whether cancer moved to her bones. Unfortunately, Zoleka quickly learned that it spread to her bones which would be unable to be removed.
“From what she’s told me, cancer in the bones cannot be eradicated, nor can it be cured. I have bone metastasis. I’ve just had my CAT scan and awaiting my results. I don’t even have the words to articulate my thoughts and feelings, the words to describe how scared I am right now.”
Zoleka Mandela stresses that she does not “want to die”
To date, Zoleka Mandela expressed her fears for her children as she revealed that she does not have an idea of how to explain this to them. The mother of six also expressed that she does not “want to die”.
“What do I tell my children? How do I tell them that this time around I may not get to live my life as a survivor? How do I tell them everything will be OK when it’s not? I’m dying … I don’t want to die.”
