Two people have been shot and killed, and seven others wounded when unknown suspects randomly fired shots at patrons who were sitting outside a tavern in Garankuwa. The incident happened before midnight on Friday.
According to police unknown suspects, driving a silver polo reportedly fired shots randomly at patrons who were sitting at a tavern. Colonel Dimakatso Sello, the police spokesperson said the motive for the shooting is unknown at this stage.
The police in Gauteng are investigating two cases of murder and seven cases of attempted murder. Sello urged Anyone who may have information about the incident or the suspects, is urged to report at the nearest police station or on the Crime Stop Hotline at 08600 10111 and anonymous tip-offs can also be reported via MY SAPS App.
All the information received will be treated as confidential, said Sello.
The incident comes a week after a 33-year-old man was shot and killed in another tavern shooting which took place at Monaco tavern in Mamelodi, east of Tshwane.
It is alleged that three armed suspects who were wearing balaclavas arrived at the venue and found people sitting and began firing shots in the air. The suspects then shot one person twice who was declared dead at the scene.
The police said the motive for the shooting was unknown and a case of murder was under investigation.
