The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 1 warning for the possibility of disruptive snow in southern Drakensburg on Saturday night moving into Sunday morning.
According to the weather service this could result slippery and dangerous roads and may also result in isolated loss of livestock and crops. Snow is looking quite likely for some of the high ground in the Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal, and across much of Lesotho this weekend.
Saws further advised the public to keep their livestock in shelters and avoid travelling on icy roads.
Low-level snow at a level reachable by an ordinary vehicle is possible, but a more detailed forecast will be made available closer to time.
Snowfall is expected to make landing early on Saturday afternoon and continue until the evening on Sunday.
