Two South African police officers have been wounded in a shooting that took place in Table View, Western Cape.

Local authorities had cordoned off the areas surrounding Potsdam Road, in Table View, on Friday morning, after an unknown number of suspects, believed to be involved in a robbery, clashed with police on the busy route.
According to renowned crime reporter Yusuf Abramjee, two officers who responded to the scene of an alleged robbery, were faced with fierce retaliation from an unknown number of gunmen who, instead of escaping, opted to meet authorities with extreme violence.
At this time, details are still murky on the nature of the alleged robbery, and it remains unknown what the latest condition of the police officers is.
From what is understand, based on accounts shared by Table View locals on social media, Potsdam Road is a no-go zone for motorists. The area, it’s believed, was flooded by law enforcement officials who were collecting evidence and clearing the area for safety.
“Please avoid Potsdam Rd, Table View, Cape Town. Armed robbery took place. Reports of two Police officers shot. All roleplayers on scene. Potsdam Rd closed in both directions. Avoid the area,” an eyewitness wrote in a tweet.
Table View police have yet to issue a statement with more details on the alleged robbery and the events that transpired in the shooting that left two injured.
